MapleLove – Part 7
Time seemed to pass by much more slowly when one is waiting consciously for it to go by. Though Keline tried hard to stay awake, she was soon dozing off. Then, for some unexplainable reason, Keline snapped out of her sleep. It was already a quarter past midnight. Keline sneaked out of her room as rapidly and quietly as she could. She turned on the computer, hoping that BK would still be waiting for her online. Suddenly it seemed to her that it took like ‘eternity’ for the game to load up. Finally, she was in Maple but BK wasn’t there. She was disappointed and couldn’t stop cursing herself for having dozed off.
Just as she was getting ready to log off, an announcement sounded. It was BK. He had logged in. Keline couldn’t contain herself and almost let out a shriek. BK apologised for coming on late but of course Keline didn’t mind it at all. In fact, she was glad that he had not been punctual. After explaining to him why she had arranged for a midnight date, Keline said that she would work extra hard to 'recover' her handphone from her mum. BK agreed that she needed to spend more time on her studies not only to get her handphone back but more importantly to stay ahead of her class. Keline promised that she would try her best as long as BK did the same in his preparation for his upcoming ‘O’ level. They then went on to chat about school and other related stuffs. It was almost two when they decided that it was time to hit their bed. They agreed to meet again the next night at the same time. Since then, they would meet up every night to share what they had done during the day.
It was the eve of National Day. As usual, Keline sneaked out of her room once the coast was clear. An idea had suddenly struck her and she couldn’t wait to share it with BK. Though, they had described their appearance to each other through their nightly chat, Keline was still curious how her virtual husband looked like in person. Thus, she decided to arrange for a ‘face to face’ meeting. But to make their first meeting more interesting and memorable, she suggested meeting at a place without telling each other exactly where they would be. Then, as she put it, they would leave it to fate for them to find each other among the crowd. BK liked the idea and they went on to discuss where they should go to to play the ‘fate’ game. They finally agreed on the venue – Jurong Point which would be packed with shoppers especially on a public holiday. They decided that they should tell each other the colour of the clothes they would be wearing to narrow down the search. They also agreed to each bring a friend along so as to have an extra pair of eyes to help out in the hunting game. With the details being finalised, they logged off for the night and waited excitedly for dawn to arrive.
